Elvis – Let your Self Go
by King Shing-a-ling on Mar.02, 2011, under Records
Soulful rocker that I believe was originally written for Elvis’ & Nancy Sinatra’s musical Speedway and was also included in Elvis’ 1968′ Comeback Special but never aired because it was pulled by the sponsors who thought it was little too risqué. See for your self, too bad this never beamed over the american airwaves those cute little pink dresses definitely piqued my fashion interests.
LuLu Reed – Say Hey Pretty Baby
by Paisley Pilgrim on Feb.18, 2011, under Records

LuLu Reed was raised in the church singing gospel music. Nurtured by the choir director of her church, Professor Harold Boggs, helped her get her start on Federal Records, where she learned to sing the Devil’s hymns we know as rhythm and blues. Federal Records would go on to recognize LuLu as one of the founding Queen’s of RnB.

The Dap-Kings – Nervous Like Me
by King Shing-a-ling on Jan.28, 2011, under Records
[youtube id=”Gopuh34VdZQ”]
Funky lil track by one of the groovest backing bands of modern day the Dap-kings who also happen to back the amazing funk/soul singer Sharon Jones. These guys are taking it back to the days when things were done right, with real instruments in a pure analog studio. You’ll defiantly want to keep an eye out for anything Daptone these are the same cats who discovered and helped Amy Winehouse develop her sound.
Jacques Dutronc – Les Gens Sont Fous
by Paisley Pilgrim on Jan.26, 2011, under Records
[youtube id=”qIvR-i5F69c”]
A nice little piece, more the fuzzed out garagey freakbeat style, from the renaissance french men. Dutronc not only worked as a musician, he also worked for vogue records, acted, and wrote songs for many other acts; ZouZou, Francoise Hardy, & Cleo. You Dig?
