A Mississippi boy moves out to LA to lay down the Funk Soul and Rock n Roll and hooks up with no other than El Capitan Daryl Dragon, of Captain & Tennille. Over the course of the Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, many other notable players also help laydown the groove including Bobby Womack, James Carmichae, and Houstons own King of Freak Leon Haywood. And not to be forgotten the members, drummer James Gadson, bassist Melvin Dunlap, trombonist Ray Jackson, and both guitarists Al McKay and Benorce Blackmon, would play on several Dyke & the Blazers charting singles, including “We Got More Soul” (1969) and “Let a Woman Be a Woman, Let a Man Be a Man” (1969).
